Today seems to be the day for big casting announcements. Following The CW’s reveal of the starlet set to play Carrie Bradshaw on The Carrie Diaries, ABC has announced that they have a rugged young man to play the beastly lead in their new Beauty And The Beast remake.

Scottish platinum-selling singer and stage actor Darius Campbell, known for being a finalist on Popstars and Pop Idol in the U.K., will play Shiro, a mercenary bodyguard and mysterious creature who discovers an unlikely connection with a princess named Grace, who has yet to be cast.

Another virtual unknown. We have a feeling this pilot season there are going to be a lot of those.

Thoughts? Is he everything U thought he would be?!

Known as Lana Lang on Smallville, Kristin Kreuk has signed on to play Belle for the pilot The pilot will have Belle and the Beast in modern times but fans of the fairytale should be warned; this will be completely different from the popular Disney-like portrayal.

ABC however IS producing their own B&B tale, which will center around the more familiar approach.

So now that CW has a Belle, who will be their Beast?!
