Today I wanted to talk about my guilty pleasure- lash extensions! I feel like lash extensions are super common nowadays but some people like to keep it a secret. I am the complete opposite and love talking about them! I first tried lash extensions back in November of 2016 since I wanted to see if I wanted them for my wedding in January. I went to a franchise in Atlanta and thought it was okay. After going there for two months I ended up having a bad experience. 75% of my lash extensions fell out the next day and I was not pleased. After that experience, I knew I had to find someone that I could trust and understand my needs. I ended up coming across Nikki (Lash extensions by Nikki) and I had a totally different experience, I was super happy with my results! I’ve been going to her since January and haven’t had any issues. I did take a two month break after my honeymoon in February and my natural lashes were exactly the same as before. I didn’t feel like I lost lashes due to the extensions and there wasn’t any damage. They did feel shorter but because I was so used to the long length of the extensions.
Anyways, I thought I’d share a q&a of the most common questions around lash extensions. Feel free to comment below if you have additional questions!
Lash Extensions Q&A
What are lash extensions? They are imitation singular lashes that are dipped in glue and adhered to your lashes one by one. The three most common types of extensions are silk, mink and synthetic.
How long is the application process? Applying a full set of lashes takes about 2 hours.
How long do they last? If you want to keep your lash extensions longer term, it is recommended that you come in for a fill-in every 2 to 4 weeks. Personally, I get mine filled in between every 2.5-3 weeks. It definitely depends on your lifestyle and how good you take care of them.
What’s the average cost? I’ve seen full sets cost up to $350, but prices definitely vary! If you’re in the Atlanta area, Nikki will offer you an introductory cost of $99 for a full set if you mention The Daily Belle. I normally pay $75 for a fill-in every three weeks but she offers a discount if you come in every two weeks. You can visit her Instagram here or check out her Facebook page for more info.
What’s the recommended care/cleaning procedure? Before getting your first full set, make sure to arrive to your appointment with clean eyes and no makeup! For 24hrs after the application, avoid water on your face and for the next 48 hrs avoid steam. Make sure the products you use are all oil free. Avoid waterproof makeup, especially mascara. I honestly don’t wear any mascara. It’s been a year that I’ve gone without it. Lash extensions make it so easy to get up and go and there’s no need for mascara in my opinion. Lastly, brush your lashes daily! They should give you a little brush like the one you use for your eyebrows or mascara.
