Hey Y’all! A couple weeks back, my husband bought me the book, You are a Badass by Jen Sincero. He had been wanting me to read it for a while since I need to work on my confidence and I am always questioning myself. I decided to give it a try, because why not? When I posted it on Instagram, I had so many questions about it whether or not it was worth reading- the answer is YES! I wanted to share with y’all some of the things I learned and inspired me while reading this book.
What I Learned From Reading ‘You are a Badass’
“It’s just as easy to believe we’re awesome as it is to believe we’re giant sucking things.”
This is SO TRUE! Why waste time thinking you can’t do it when you can believe in yourself and say you’re awesome?! It takes the exact amount of energy, so stay positive and believe in yourself.
“Become one of your own die-hard fans”
There are people out there that love you for who you are and only see the great things about you. Why can’t you just see that in yourself? Be your own cheerleader and love yourself, you can do it.
“We invest everything we’ve got in believing that we’re not good enough.”
This takes a lot of energy and wasted time. Believe in yourself and tell yourself you can do it.
Be proactive about the creating the life you love
Make it attainable. There is nothing you can’t do. Be proactive and don’t wait for things to come to you. The life you love is within your fingertips so reach for it and you’ll be amazed with what you can accomplish.
“Comparison is the fastest way to take all the fun out of life”
Quit focusing on others and being jealous of what they have. Like stated above, create the life you love. You too can be happy and successful. Focus all the energy on yourself and not on what others are doing.
Don’t waste your time thinking about what anyone else thinks
This is something I KNOW I always struggle with. Logan has alway told me to forget about others and focus on myself, my goals and don’t worry about anyone else. People are going to judge you either way and you can’t change that. Accept it and let it be-move past it and you’ll be happier.
“Surround yourself with people who think the way you want to think”
It’s important to surround yourself with people that have similar goals and passions as you do. They will help motivate you and point you in the right direction.
“If you’re serious about changing your life, you’ll find a way.”
It will come to you. Just be active and continue pursuing your dream. Don’t wait around and just pull the plug and make things happen. For a long time I wanted to start a blog and I made all these excuses on why I didn’t have time for it. Until one weekend, I just decided to dedicate some time to it and go for it.
“The only failure is quitting.”
I am so scared of taking risks and failing. This totally speaks to me because it’s quite true. I think I’m failing myself if I don’t go for the gold and do what I love. At least if I try something new, I’ll never wonder what could’ve happened.
Make it urgent
This last one was mainly about money and wanted to start something on your own and not having the money for it. The author spoke about how we have all these expenses/bills and we know they have to get paid and the money is always there for them. For example, our dog Teddy had to get surgery and it was over $1,000 and we made it happen because it was urgent. Well just like that, treat our business as urgent. You’ll figure out a way to make it happen.
This book was so empowering and motivating and I am SO glad I read it. It has really helped change my attitude and perspective on things. I totally recommend reading it. Have y’all read this before? What did you like about it?
