Surprise… Baby on the Way!

OMG! I still feel like this is a dream but I am so happy to finally be able to open up and share the secret I’ve been hiding for so long! Logan and I are expecting our first baby BOY to arrive in March next year and we are over the moon excited! Every night before I go to bed I look at the ultrasound on my nightstand and thank God for this little miracle he is sending our way. I am DYING to meet him! I am so in love with Logan and I can’t wait to have a mini version of him in my arms.

There are so many things I want to share with you guys that I don’t know where to start so bare with me (this might be all over the place). Yes this was 100% planned. With both of us turning 30 this year, being financially stable and in a relationship for over 6 years, we thought it was time. I know how difficult it can be to become pregnant and I was scared- I had to prepare myself for any situation and just place it in God’s hands.

It took us about a month and a half to get pregnant and we found out on June 25th. I was already running late to work so once I took the test and we found out, we didn’t even have time to process it all. We were surprised it happened so quickly but were very grateful! I walked out the door and could not focus all day.

I’m close to reaching 13 weeks pregnant and are expecting baby B in March! I’ve been feeling completely normal and haven’t had any crazy symptoms. Because of that, every day I question myself if I’m really pregnant. No morning sickness or anything! I had bad heartburn the first week or so and was super tired but that was it. I’ve been craving sweets, which is super weird for me since I don’t eat desserts. The other day I paid $15 for a slice of cheesecake to have delivered but it was so worth it (no shame here)! No bump yet, just feeling bloated and I find myself unbuttoning my jeans quite often lol. My doctor told me exercise is encouraged so I continue to workout with my trainer a couple of times a week and modify my workouts as needed.

We kept our pregnancy a secret for a while and didn’t tell our parents until about week 9 or 10! I just wanted to be 100% sure everything was going well before we shared with them. These first 12 weeks are filled with so much anxiety, it’s the worst. Baby B will be the first grandchild for both of our parents so we didn’t want to get their hopes up. The way we told them was by gifting them Coke bottles that said Share a Coke with Grandma/Grandpa. We wrapped them up and gave them to our parents and it was so exciting! Why a Coke? As some of you know, Coke is one of my clients and is headquartered in Atlanta (our home and a place we love dearly). It also stands for moments of happiness and it couldn’t be more perfect for our happiest moment in our lives- which is why we incorporated our own bottles into this shoot.

After getting our results from the genetic testing and having my 12 weeks ultrasound this week, I felt comfortable sharing with my close friends and family. My heart is so full from all the love and support we have received. It makes me happy seeing everyone else happy. Logan and I never really shared with anyone when we were planning on having kids and I am so glad we kept it that way. You never know the struggles people can go through and I wasn’t sure how difficult it would be to get pregnant. I did not want to add in the stress of people asking me for updates constantly and just wanted to do this on our own. It really helped me become more relaxed not having the pressure from anyone else. And then when we shared with our family and friends that we were pregnant it was a total surprise for them. Every single person we have told has been shocked. So many screams of joy and tears of happiness! We are so excited for this journey we’re about to go through!

The meaning behind our photoshoot theme was due to the fact that Logan, Teddy and I love going to Piedmont Park and have little picnics together. Logan also had a picnic for me the day we got engaged and it’s something we enjoy doing together. We can’t wait to have Baby B join our picnic next Spring! Thanks so much to Morgan Hayes for helping my vision come to life and now we have these beautiful photos that we can cherish forever.

Lastly, I don’t know how much y’all want me to share about my pregnancy or how much I should share BUT I will say that I’ve read so many blog posts on pregnancy these last three months and they truly helped me. If I follow you on instagram and you’re currently pregnant or just had a baby, know that you’ve helped me so much! Your body goes through so much and you experience so many different things that it’s nice to have a blog post to relate to someone normal versus doing a google search. It really helped me stay more relaxed and know that I was not alone. If you’re currently struggling getting pregnant know that my heart is with you and God has a plan for you <3.
