It’s the final HOME STRETCHHHHH! How is it already the third trimester?! I got so many sweet messages from y’all when I shared my first trimester update so I decided to do one about my second trimester. I’m trying to be as real as possible so y’all can relate even if you’re not pregnant and are just curious.
Well here we are, week 28 and starting my third trimester, but let’s talk about everything that happened in the second trimester. I’ve heard the second trimester be called as the honeymoon stage and the best out of the three, so I was definitely looking forward to these past months.
If you experienced morning sickness at the beginning of your pregnancy, this is the trimester where all that should stop and you should have an increase of energy. Luckily, I never experienced morning sickness so nothing really changed for me. During the second trimester is when maternity jeans became my best friend. I invested in two pairs and trying to keep it that way (my faves). Luckily, being pregnant during the fall/winter means I’ve been relying a lot on sweater dresses and leggings and can’t complain!
I enjoyed this trimester for two big reasons- I got to feel Baby Noah’s little kicks and my bump started to show. I had been waiting for that moment when I would feel Noah move around in my belly. I had no idea what to expect! I thought it would hurt or feel uncomfortable but I was wrong and I love it. I started feeling Noah move around week 21/22, and the timing is definitely is different for everyone. I can’t describe the feeling but Logan was able to feel it as well. Feeling your baby move is so reassuring and makes me feel less anxious knowing he’s moving around in there and still breathing. Seeing a growing belly bump is definitely reassuring as well! I remember I cried one day around week 14 because I didn’t “feel” or “look” pregnant and I thought something was wrong. I blame it on the hormones for making me act crazy. I think I started showing around week 17/18 and I started wearing more fitted clothes. At the beginning, I was going for the oversized look but now that it actually “looks” like I’m pregnant I enjoy wearing fitted dresses that can be super flattering (y’all know I’m obsessed with this one!). I can’t remember my exact weight before pregnancy but I’ve gained about +/- 25 pounds, which is crazy but I know my body is going through a lot.
In terms of doctor’s visits during this second trimester, I think I had two appointments and one ultrasound. Ultrasounds are my favorite because that’s when I get to see how much Noah has grown and changed and well as hear his heartbeat. My next appointment and ultrasound is today, which includes the dreaded glucose test for gestational diabetes and other fun things. I will let y’all know how that goes!
I’m such a planner and we also started attending baby classes at the hospital we plan on delivering. My friend Nicole recommended them to me because I had no idea where to start and they were so helpful! We took a baby essentials class as well as an 8 hour birthing class. Logan attended both classes with me and we learned so much. We were always the couple with the latest delivery date in the group. With the holidays coming up, and closing on our house in January and moving, I decided to take these classes now and get them out of the way. It makes me nervous leaving things last minute and I know my mind will be elsewhere come January and February.
Overall, I’ve felt great and can’t complain! Pregnancy has been really good to me and my husband Logan said I am a happier person and always in a good mood. Don’t get me wrong, there’s times I get a little upset about how much my body has changed and I get nervous I won’t look like I did before I got pregnant. But these moments do’t happen often. I am so excited for Noah and know this will all be worth it. Our bodies are designed for this and I know if I’m committed, I’ll get back to where I want to be. And if I don’t it’s okay, it will take time and I’m okay with it. Thanks for following along on my journey and never hesitate to reach out with questions! Again, I have no idea what I’m doing but it’s nice hearing from y’all and your stories! I also added a baby tab on my blog here, and you can find all my baby related posts. I recently shared my top baby registry items, which should be helpful if you’re just getting started.
