Having a baby the second time around is a little less stressful than the first. I feel more confident and knowledgeable about all the baby products out there. It’s also nice I’ll be able to reuse the main items we invested in for our first child. I originally made this list of my most used newborn baby products two years ago but I thought I would make some updates based on what I know now. This list might not be for everyone, but I wanted to share my favorite products I will use during the first few months after birth. Also a disclaimer, this isn’t EVERYTHING since the list never ends!

- Dockatot– trust me on this one. I didn’t understand the hype but once I got it and used it daily I had so much appreciation for it! I also wrote a detailed review on why I love it here.
- Pacifiers– while not every baby will use these, these are our favorite ones- or at least the ones my son loved. I always get questions on these because they look so unique so I thought I would share. I would also recommend buying a few different brands to see what your baby prefers.
- MamaRoo- We typically kept this item in our kitchen/living room (somewhere we spend most of our time). Our first baby loved it and it was soothing and relaxing.
- Bumbo Changing Pad– I know there’s tons of options out there but this is the one we ended up getting and bought a second one for baby #2. I never really understood the cloth ones, I feel like those would get dirty easily. I like this one because it’s foam and super easy to clean.
- Dr. Brown’s Bottles– Again, every baby is different and your baby might not even need a bottle but these were our favorites! They have different bottle and nipple sizes as they get older.
- Dr. Brown’s Bottle Warmer- I believe you don’t HAVE to have Dr. Brown’s bottles to use this. We loved how compact and easy to use this was.
- Mesa Car Seat- Compatible with the Uppababy Vista stroller but can also attach to other strollers if you have the attachment. We had no complaints about this case seat and will be using again. It was easy to clip in and out, and we found it to be very safe. It comes with the base and we actually bought a second base so we could have one in each car.
- Halo Bassinet– Our first child slept in this for 8-9 weeks so I did not think it was necessary to spend more money (like a Snoo) for such a short time. We actually got the deluxe bassinet but I don’t think it was worth it to pay the price difference for the upgrade. The basic one is just fine!
-Baby Bum Spatula- This one is fun to share because it’s definitely not an essential but it’s so unique and practical! It’s basically used to help you apply cream/rash cream to a baby’s booty and I love it! We also bought a mini one to keep in our diaper bag.
- AquaScale Tub- This was gifted to us and I love it! It seems to be sold out in a lot of places and hard to find. I love that it has a scale so I could keep track of my child’s weight early on. It also has a thermometer for the water temperature. We also have this one that we would take with us when traveling or as he/she got older.
- Owlet- Pricey but helps with peach of mind. I never really had anxiety about the baby’s sleep and breathing overnight but this definitely helped give me more confidence. The owlet sock wraps around their foot and monitors their sleep and breathing and is tracked by an app. We found that our FSA covered it, so check if yours does too!
- Nanit monitor- We did not have this for baby #1 but after a lot of recommendations we decided to get it for baby #2. Again, our FSA covered the cost which was nice. This monitor is through Wifi, which you can view on your phone. I know some people prefer battery operated or something that is not through wifi so this might not be for you.
I hoped these helped! Again, it’s all about preference and what your baby needs/likes but I feel like it’s always helpful to get different perspectives. Do you have any baby products you swear by that weren’t on this list? Comment below!
